802.1x protocol comprises several steps:

• When a client tries to access a Wireless Network/ LAN network/ VPN network, the authenticator prompts it for login credentials
• The client identifies itself to the authenticator, which sends credential verification back to the RADIUS server
• The RADIUS server verifies the client’s credentials. If the verification provides positive results, the RADIUS server provides the authenticator with an encrypted access key
• Finally, the authenticator will use the encrypted access key to be able to securely transmit unicast session authentication keys to the client

ZADIG Smart service comes with a fully implemented and secure solution to manage Network Authentication at various levels, depending on the selected add-ons. Wireless Network Authentication via 802.1x protocol is always available: you just need to configure your Access Points with the WPA2 Enterprise security protocol. With the Remote add-on, secure Network Authentication to the VPN network is natively implemented by ZADIG Smart and no additional configuration is required. With the Professional add-on, you can configure your switches to support LAN Authentication via the 802.1x protocol. Each user receives personal username and password credentials to access network resources that support 802.1x. With the Professional add-on, thanks to the MDM solution, you can automatically deploy credentials in the form of a digital certificate to devices, making the authentication process completely secure and transparent for the user. The Remote and Professional add-ons are separate and can be combined.
